Issue Fourteen – May 2025

I’m so happy to release Issue Fourteen of Rockvale Review into the world. This issue highlights some new work from writers previously published by RR, plus a whole lot of “new to RR” writers. It makes for a good mix. We also saw a large increase in the number of short fiction submissions received, which resulted in more acceptances for this genre.

I know submitting is hard work, and I appreciate the effort it takes to read the guidelines and choose writing that fits the aesthetics of the journal. (I submit too, so I REALLY understand!) It’s a sort of dance between journal and writers. Give your best and receive something good in return – all under the headline of respect and gratitude. I’m grateful to everyone who submitted.

To the fine writers whose work is featured in RR Fourteen, your writing caught our eye with its boldness and touched our heart with its vulnerability. Those two things are what we’re always looking for, and you delivered. Thank you.

Huge thanks and appreciation to Roseann, Ellen, Linda, and Lana, fellow editors of RR. Their work was instrumental in creating this issue. They’ll be around for Issue Fifteen too, which will be published in November. The reading period begins in July. Spread the word!
