Finding the Desert at Daybreak – by Stacy Nigliazzo

Summer rain and creosote;

in the book of your eyes

silver clouds    casting skins over red rock,

the sun on a feather grass leaf.

Stacy R. Nigliazzo‘s debut poetry collection, Scissored Moon, was published in 2013 by Press 53. It was named Book of the Year by the American Journal of Nursing. It was also listed as a finalist for the Texas Institute of Letters First Book Award for Poetry/Bob Bush Award. She reviews poetry for the American Journal of Nursing and the Bellevue Literary Review. srnigliazzo.com

Photographer’s Note: I like the quirky photo interpretation of the poet’s words. Further, “the book of your eyes” and other descriptive words leave me with the same emotions of the “stories” I see when I’m wandering alone and capturing the details in nature, like this random feather in the grass.
